The Actual Measurement Comparison 10G Network Card Between Qlogic's and Intel's (For Reference)
The Actual Measurement Comparison 10G Network Card Between Qlogic's and Intel's (For Reference)
2021-05-05

In our daily office, we usually encounter situations where we need to transfer some larger files to another office device. At this time, if you use the mailbox to send, it will exceed the file size limit, which requires us to establish a shared file in the local area network so that everyone can copy the data through the storage device. Today we will continue to test the rate of file transfer for the three 10 Gigabit fiber optic network cards as a local area network. The following is the actual test comparison.

Three network card models for test,

LRES1004PF-2SFP+(Based on Qlogic Chip)、LREC9802BF-2SFP+(Based on Intel 82599 Chip)、LREC9812BF-2SFP+(Based on Intel X710 Chip).

The results,

1. The theoretical transmission rate of 10 gigabit network card is 1250M/S. The copy file rate of the four 10 gigabit fiber network cards tested now is close to 1G, with stable performance and excellent performance among similar products.

2, under the same test conditions, in the LAN file copy each master network card rate comparison can be obtained: LRES1004PF-2SFP+/LRES1005PF-4SFP+ (based on QLogic chip) > LREC9802BF-2SFP+ (based on Intel 82599 chip)≥LREC9812BF-2SFP+ (based on Intel X710 chip). QLogic master control scheme wins because of the powerful RDMA function. For details, please see the article "Technical Analysis of the Application of RDMA Network Card in the Real Environment".

3, in the same hard disk, the same network card, server A than server B performance is much better.

4, copy file speed is not only related to the network card, but also the platform hardware configuration (such as: CPU, memory), hard disk read and write speed, network environment node (such as: switch) and file form are related. During the copying process, if a bottleneck occurs at any node in the network environment, the copying speed will copy the files at the lowest node bottleneck speed.
